Hempstead, NY – Following the exciting release of the non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2014-15 season on Wednesday, the Hofstra Men’s Basketball program announced the full schedule today as the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) released the entire conference schedule for the upcoming campaign.
This schedule is subject to change and times for all contests will be announced at a later date.
For ticket information call the Hofstra Athletics Ticket Office at (516) HOF-TIXX.
The 13-game non-conference schedule that Coach Mihalich announced on Wednesday will be followed by the 18-game CAA slate to give the Pride a 31-game 2014-15 schedule.
One of the more exciting aspects of the upcoming CAA schedule will be Hofstra’s two home national television appearances. The Pride will face Northeastern on Thursday, February 12 and William & Mary on Sunday, February 22. Both games will air nationally on the NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) live from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.
Hofstra will have to get acclimated to conference schedule in a hurry as the Pride will open up the CAA part of its schedule with four road games among the first five contests.
The CAA slate gets underway on Saturday, January 3 when Hofstra heads to Wilmington, North Carolina to take on UNCW. The Pride will then play its first home conference game on Monday, January 5 as Delaware visits the Mack Sports Complex.
In an interesting twist, the Pride first two conference games are against the two opponents Hofstra faced in last season’s CAA Championship as the Pride defeated UNCW in the first round before dropping a hard-fought decision to eventual conference champion Delaware in the quarterfinals.
After facing the Blue Hens, Hofstra will head south once again as the Pride will face Charleston on Thursday, January 8. The next contest will be an exciting one as Hofstra will face Elon for the first time as conference rivals on Saturday, January 10. It will be only the second-ever meeting between the programs as Hofstra defeated Elon back in 2009-10.
The last of the road games during the opening stretch will see Hofstra head north to face the Huskies of Northeastern on Wednesday, January 14.
The next stretch of the schedule will allow Hofstra to play a string of three straight games in the friendly confines of the Mack Sports Complex. That three-game stretch includes contests against UNCW (Saturday, January 17), Drexel (Wednesday, January 21) and James Madison (Saturday, January 24).
The final two games of January will send the Pride to William & Mary on Wednesday, January 28 and then another home contest against Towson on Saturday, January 31.
February opens with the return game at Delaware on Wednesday, February 4 followed by Elon’s first CAA trip to Hempstead on Saturday, February 7.
The Pride’s next game will be the previously mentioned nationally-televised game against Northeastern which will be followed by road games at Drexel (Saturday, February 14) and Towson (Wednesday, February 18).
After the second of Hofstra’s two NBCSN against William & Mary, the Pride will have just two regular season conference games remaining.
On Wednesday, February 25 Hofstra will host Charleston in the Pride’s final home game of the 2014-15 regular season. They will then close the regular season slate on Saturday, February 28 with a road tilt at James Madison.
The 2015 CAA Championship will be held on March 6-9, 2015 at the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore, Maryland.
