Hockey
Last Week: The No. 11 RedHawks secured their first NCHC series sweep since joining the league last season by winning twice over Colorado College at Steve ‘Coach’ Cady Arena. Alex Wideman scored twice in the final 10 minutes of the third period to snap a scoreless tie while Jay Williams stopped all 21 shots he faced to post his third-career shutout in a 3-0 win over the Tigers on Friday (Recap). The RedHawks jumped out in front early on in Saturday’s series finale with Riley Barber (2 goals, 1 assist), Sean Kuraly (1 goal, 1 assist) and Austin Czarnik (2 assists) all recorded multiple points as Miami salted away a sweep with a 5-1 win (Recap)(Photo Gallery). This Week: The RedHawks head on the road for a series against preseason NCHC favorite North Dakota starting on Friday.
Men’s Basketball
Last Week: Junior guard Eric Washington scored 16 points in a 71-60 exhibition loss to Edinboro. (Recap) This Week: Miami opens the 2014-15 season on Sunday, Nov. 16, hosting Southern Utah at 2 p.m. Click HERE to purchase your tickets today.
Football
Last Week: Miami had a bye week. This Week: The RedHawks travel to face Central Michigan this Saturday (Nov. 15). Game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
Volleyball
Last Week: Miami (18-8 overall and 11-3 MAC) clinched a first round bye and the three seed in the upcoming MAC Tournament, while increasing its win streak to nine matches with a pair of victories last weekend. Miami closed out the home schedule in style, earning a Senior Night, 3-1 (25-17, 25-23, 23-25, 25-20), victory over Bowling Green on Thursday. (Recap) (Photo Gallery) Hitting the road for the first time in three weeks did not stop the RedHawks’ momentum as they earned their ninth straight victory with a 3-0 (26-24, 25-21, 25-22) victory at Western Michigan Saturday evening. (Recap) This Week: The RedHawks hit the road for their final two matches of the regular season this weekend. Miami travels to Kent State on Friday for a 7 p.m. match. It then heads to the site of the MAC Tournament in Athens for a showdown with Ohio on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Women’s Basketball
Last Week: The team was idle as it continued preseason practice. This Week: Miami hosts Cedarville on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in its only exhibition contest of the season.
Women’s Swimming & Diving
Last Week: Winning all 14 events, the RedHawks cruised to a 134-106 win against Butler last Saturday. It was a balanced effort for Miami with no swimmer winning more than one individual event. (Recap) This Week: Miami is idle until hosting the Miami Invitational Dec. 4-6.
Synchronized Skating
This Week: All three teams will be in action this weekend when the synchronized skating program hosts its Family Weekend Exhibition on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 3:15 p.m. at Steve “Coach” Cady Arena. Admission to the event is free.
FIELD HOCKEY
Last Week: The RedHawks' season came to an end in a 3-1 loss in the semifinals to Kent State. The Golden Flashes went on to win the tor=urnament and ended Miami's two-year reign atop the conference. Freshman Brianna Stahl continued her strong finish to the year scoring the team's lone goal (Recap).
