Miami Athletes of the Week

OXFORD, Ohio – For their performances last week football senior quarterback Andrew Hendrix and soccer senior midfielder Kelsey Dinges are Miami’s Athletes of the Week connected by Frontier Communications for the week of Sept. 29-Oct. 5.
The senior completed 32-of-58 passes for 437 yards and four touchdowns, while adding 91 yards on the ground which included a game-winning 1-yard rushing score with 2:58 left in the game. In all, Hendrix finished with 528 total yards, the second-highest total in the history of Miami football. His 32 completed passes (10th), 58 pass attempts (third), 437 passing yards (sixth) and four touchdowns (fifth) can now be found in the Miami record books as well.
This is the second time this season Hendrix has been named Miami’s Male Athlete of the Week. He previously won it for the week of Aug. 25-31.
Dinges continued her standout season by contributing to three of Miami’s four goals in a perfect 2-0 weekend. On Friday, Dinges got positioning on a free kick and headed it into the net in the second minute of play to get the Red and White on the board against Toledo. In addition to scoring the eventual game-winning goal, her precise corner kick feed set up a put away tally in the second half. On Sunday, Dinges fired a team-high five shots and put the contest out of reach by scoring the RedHawks’ second goal with 5:52 left of an eventual 2-0 win over Central Michigan. The five-point weekend gives Dinges a team-best 17 points on the year after she entered the weekend tied for the league lead in scoring.
This is the third time this season and sixth time in her career that Dinges has earned Miami’s Female Athlete of the Week honor. She last won it two weeks ago for the week of Sept. 15-21.
