Football
Last Week: Miami dropped a 51-41 decision last Saturday versus Northern Illinois. Andrew Hendrix completed 23-of-42 passes for 346 yards and two touchdowns while adding three more scores on the ground in the loss (Recap). This Week: The RedHawks will host Kent State on Family Weekend, this Saturday (Oct. 25) at 2:30 p.m.
Hockey
Last Week: The No. 11 RedHawks looked dominant in sweeping a home-and-home series against No. 17 Ohio State over the weekend. Miami scored on its first three power plays and were led by Sean Kuraly’s three points (1 goal, 2 assists) in a 5-1 win in Friday’s opener in Columbus (Recap). The next night, Miami outshot Ohio State 62-20 and used goals by Louie Belpedio and Alex Wideman to post a 2-1 comeback victory to secure the series sweep (Recap). This Week: Miami hosts a two-game series against St. Lawrence on Friday (7:35 p.m.) and Saturday (8:05 p.m.).
Soccer
Last Week: Kat Zalar scored three of Miami’s four goals for the weekend to help lift the RedHawks to a perfect 2-0 mark in their final two home matches of the year. Zalar found the back of the net twice in the first half and Kelsey Dinges also scored in a 3-1 win over Northern Illinois on Friday (Recap). On Sunday, it was Zalar coming through again when she scored in the 84th minute to break a scoreless tie in a 1-0 win over defending MAC Tournament champion Western Michigan (Recap). This Week: Miami begins its season-ending three-match road trip with trips to Akron and MAC leader Buffalo on Friday and Sunday. Sitting one point behind Buffalo, Miami can win an outright MAC title by winning its final three matches of the season.
Volleyball
Last Week: Miami (12-8 overall, 5-3 MAC) went on the road and swept a pair of opponents. The RedHawks were able to take a straight set victory as it earned a 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 28-26) win over Eastern Michigan Friday evening. (Recap) Miami completed a perfect road trip with a 3-0 (27-25, 25-17, 25-20) win over Central Michigan on Saturday. (Recap) This Week: The RedHawks begin a stretch of five straight home matches with two contests at Millett Hall this week. On Thursday, Miami hosts Toledo at 7 p.m. The Red and White then take on Ball State Friday at 7 p.m.
Field Hockey
Last Week: The RedHawks (4-11, 2-2 MAC) suffered a tough 2-1 loss to Kent State on Saturday as senior Valentina Neira scored her team-leading ninth goal of the season. This Week: Miami will travel to Missouri State for an important matchup with the Bears on Friday at 5 p.m. The team will return home for its Senior Day contest against UC Davis at noon on Sunday.
Golf
Last Week: Miami was idle. This Week: The RedHawks retur to action after a week off when they travel to Kennesaw, Georgia to participate in the Pinetree Intercollegiate. Miami will play 36 holes on Monday, and complete the event with one final round of 18 holes on Tuesday.
Women’s Cross Country
Last Week: Jess Hoover’s 41st-place finish paced the RedHawks, who finished 28th out of 43 teams at the Pre-Nationals meet at Indiana State (Recap). This Week: The RedHawks are idle this week and don’t run again until the MAC Championships at Central Michigan on Nov. 1.
Men’s Cross Country
Last Week: Joe Stewart finished in sixth place in a loaded field of 193 runners at the Pre-National meet at Indiana State over the weekend as the RedHawks finished 15th in the team standings (Recap). This Week: The RedHawks will send a group to run in the Cedarville Open on Friday.
