“The Miami Sports Marketing Department seeks to build partnerships in the campus community,” Assistant Director of Promotions Ellie Zabielski stated. “Our focus is to win our backyard, which is to engage the campus, building partnerships and creating a distinctive game-day experience while simultaneously creating opportunities for our student-athletes and students to work together.”
Last Friday’s baseball game featured a unique partnership between Miami Athletics and the University’s Anti-Hazing Committee. Student leaders from across campus came together in support of anti-hazing and had over 350 students check in at the game, showing that they are against hazing. The Hazing Prevention Committee reached out to Athletics in the early weeks of the semester to begin planning; the goal of the partnership was to provide a fun and casual setting to show support of the initiative as well as support Athletics. The students that checked in at the game received a free T-shirt as well as a hot dog.
Another partnership was postponed by the recent snow and cold. Yesterday's baseball game was to be a part of Miami Entertainment's Breast Cancer Awareness week. The event will be changed to a future date, allowing Miami Entertainment to still collect donations for Breast Cancer Awareness.
A few weeks ago the organizers for Miami Entertainment filmed a promotional video with our student-athletes to show they were in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. Their video can be viewed here.
