Life is good in Oxford. Over the weekend Miami athletics had a combined overall record of 7-0! Listed below is a recap of last week's results as well as a look ahead at this week's games. Enjoy!
Football
Last Week: The RedHawks (1-1) picked up their first win of the season, defeating Southern Illinois University 30-14 in their home opener Saturday at Yager Stadium. Pat Hinkel had two interceptions and Andy Cruse scored the team's lone passing touchdown (RECAP). This week: Miami travels to play Boise State (0-1) Saturday, Sept. 15 at 4 p.m. The game is being televised on NBC Sports Network.
Women's Soccer
Last Week: The RedHawks continued their hot streak, improving to 5-1-0 after a 4-0 home win against Austin Peay on Friday (RECAP). The team is off to its best start since 1999. This week: Miami hosts IPFW Friday, Sept. 14 before traveling to Terre Haute, Ind. for a Sunday, Sept. 16 match against Indiana State.
Field Hockey
Last Week: The RedHawks (2-4) bounced back winning their first two matches of the season. Miami beat Longwood 6-4 at home on Saturday (RECAP) and downed No. 23 Ohio State on the road 2-1 Sunday in Columbus (RECAP). This week: MU plays two away matches, starting with Virginia Saturday, Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. The RedHawks then play Williams & Mary on Sunday, Sept. 16 at noon.
Volleyball
Last week: The RedHawks (4-6) lost to Xavier at home on Tuesday in a close five-set match (RECAP), but rallied to win the Miami Best Western/Sycamore Invitational for the second straight year over the weekend. Miami beat Indiana State on Friday, as coach Carolyn Condit won her 600th career match (RECAP). MU then went on to defeat both Chicago State (RECAP) and Temple (RECAP) on Saturday to claim the tournament title. This week: The RedHawks play in the Hoosier Classic in Bloomington, Ind. Miami starts the tournament against Chattanooga on Friday, Sept. 14 at 5 p.m., before playing a doubleheader Saturday, Sept. 15 against Valparaiso and Indiana at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
Men's & Women's Cross Country
This week: After a week off, both teams are scheduled to compete this weekend. The women's team travels to the Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Mich. Friday, Sept. 14 at 12:35 p.m. The men's team will run in the Commodore Classic in Nashville, Tenn. Saturday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m.
Men's Golf
This week: The men's golf team kicks off it season today at the Marshall Invitational in Huntington, W.Va. (SEASON PREVIEW). The team also plays a weekend tournament, the Wolf Run Intercollegiate, in Zionsville, Ind. Saturday, Sept. 15 and Sunday, Sept. 16.
Ice Hockey
This week: With the 2012-13 Miami hockey season rapidly approaching, the Miami Athletic Department has announced that single-game hockey tickets will go on sale this week. As a special thank you to active members, tickets will first be available to Red & White Club members on Wednesday, Sept. 12 while single-game tickets will be open to the general public the following day on Thursday, Sept. 13, should tickets still remain. With the Miami Athletic Ticket Office's new hours, tickets will be offered beginning at 10 a.m. ET both days (MORE INFORMATION).
