OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University's football team's 2012 regular-season schedule will include five exciting games at Yager Stadium, including four Saturday afternoon contests and one on the Friday after Thanksgiving, the Mid-American Conference (MAC) announced today.
After opening its season on the road against Ohio State (Sept. 1), Coach Don Treadwell's RedHawks will face non-conference foe Southern Illinois on Saturday, Sept. 8 in Oxford. Miami's second home game is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22 vs. UMass in the Minutemen's MAC debut. The contest against UMass will mark Miami's Homecoming Game. The third game at Yager will be a Family Weekend clash against Ohio on Saturday, Oct. 27. In November, Miami hosts Kent State on Saturday the 10th and Ball State on Friday the 23rd.
In addition to the Sept. 1 opener at Ohio State, Miami will play Saturday road games at Boise State (Sept. 15), at Akron (Sept. 29), at Cincinnati (Oct. 6), at Bowling Green (Oct. 13), at Buffalo (Nov. 3) and at Central Michigan on Nov. 17.
Specific game times are expected to be announced in June by the MAC. Miami will not play any November weeknight games this coming season.
The 15th Annual MAC Championship Game will be played on Friday, Nov. 30, at Ford Field in Detroit.
The MAC has primary bowl agreements with the Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl (vs. Big Ten), the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl (vs. WAC) and the GoDaddy.com Bowl (vs. Sun Belt). Dates and times for these bowl games have yet to be determined.
"Our team is very excited about our 2012 schedule," said Treadwell. "As is tradition at Miami, it's filled with challenging competition from top to bottom, starting with the opener at Ohio State on September 1. We'll really need our fans' support, especially at our five home games. Just like we tell our players, we want our fans to be `All in at all times.'"
Miami's football team is currently in the midst of spring practice and will conclude with the annual Red & White Game at Yager Stadium on Saturday, April 28, at 12 noon.
