Miami Names Sports Camps Director

OXFORD, Ohio - CHASE SPEAKS has been named Director of Sports Camps at Miami University, Associate Director of Athletics Keanah Smith announced today (Mar. 13).
Speaks comes to the RedHawk athletic department from Ohio State University where he served as both a coordinator of Buckeye Sports Camps since 2009 and as a coordinator for OSU athletics event management since 2007. He was a key part of a staff that managed more than 130 OSU sports camps that served 12,500 campers and generated more than $3 million in revenues. Speaks was the primary event manager for field hockey, men's volleyball, and men's and women's soccer. From 2007-2009, he served as a student manager for OSU Recreational Sports' Outdoor Adventure Center.
"We are pleased to have Chase join the Miami family," Smith said. "His years of experience in event management and as a camp coordinator will be invaluable as we expand and improve Miami University Sport Camps."
Speaks, a native of Pleasantville, Ohio, said that he is excited about his new position and is anxious to direct Miami's Sports Camps.
"I am thrilled to be in Oxford and working at Miami University," he said. "Miami's sports camps have a great reputation. We have a beautiful campus, tremendous athletic facilities, nationally respected coaches and student-athletes who are role models for campers. Our sports camps provide us with a unique forum to showcase our University and build life-long RedHawk fans. My goal will be to work closely with our coaches and campus partners to expand our camp operation and still deliver a memorable camp experience for each camper. "
