As the regular season wraps up for the Miami Women's Basketball team, the time has come to recognize the seniors who will soon be finishing out their final season. On Tuesday, February 28, is Senior Night at Millett as both the team and RedHawk fans honor the careers of these three outstanding women.
Maggie Boyer, Rachael Hencke, and Lillian Pitts have appeared in all 28 games this season and made important contributions to the team's overall success.
Meet the Seniors
Boyer, a 5'11'' guard, hailing from Lebanon, Indiana is majoring in Family Studies and has appeared in over 110 games (started in over 100), racked up about 1200 points, and played for close to 53 hours.
Hencke is a 6'1'' forward from Grafton, Wisconsin and boasts the largest wingspan on the team. She is majoring in exercise science and plans to attend medical school in hopes of becoming a Doctor of Sports Medicine. Over her 4-year career, Hencke has played in over 112 games (40 hours worth of court time) and scored almost 780 points. Fun fact: as a freshman, Rachael shared the honor of Most Improved Player with fellow teammate Lillian Pitts.
Pitts matches Hencke as another 6'1'' forward. Hailing from Shaker Heights, Ohio, Lillian is majoring in Integrated Social Studies Education. During her time as a RedHawk, Pitts has appeared in over 112 games (over 35 hours of court time) and accumulated over 440 points.
Leaving a Legacy
All three women have made outstanding contributions to the RedHawk tradition during their time at Miami and will be missed. Coach Maria Fantanarosa offers her reflection:
"We have enjoyed coaching this group of seniors. Their growth has been consistent
throughout their four years. They have been hard workers and have had successful careers both on the court and in the classroom. They have also made a difference in the community with their time and talent."
The February 28 game promises to be filled with fun and excitement as the RedHawks take on a major rivalry, the Ohio Bobcats, and put the spotlight on the seniors with recognitions and fun trivia facts. So come on out to Millett this Tuesday to celebrate these exceptional seniors and cheer the RedHawks on to one final home victory in a major rivalry! Tip off is at 7:00 pm.
