It was a busy week for Miami Athletics as nine teams were in action with two competing for Mid-American Conference Championships while another wrapped up regular season play.

ICE HOCKEY
Last Week: No. 15/15 Miami (21-13-2, 15-11-2-1 CCHA) swept No. 17 Ohio State over the weekend to close out the regular season as the RedHawks extended their season-long winning streak to six games. Miami finished fourth in the CCHA standings, earning a first-round bye in the CCHA Tournament for the seventh straight year. On Friday in Oxford, junior forward Reilly Smith scored the first two goals and senior goalie Connor Knapp pitched his fourth shutout of the year and 12th of his career with 28 saves in a 3-0 win. Knapp tied the school's career shutouts record in the process, tying classmate Cody Reichard and David Burleigh ('03), while Smith tied the single-season game-winning goals mark at Miami as his first goal Friday was his eighth game-winner this season, matching Tim Leahy in 1996-97. Following the game, Miami's 10 seniors (Ben Saksa, Patrick Tiesling, Chris Wideman, Matt Tomassoni, Cameron Schilling, Trent Vogelhuber, Knapp, Reichard, Alden Hirschfeld and Will Weber) were honored as part of Senior Night. (RECAP) (PHOTO GALLERY) On Saturday, the RedHawks traveled to Columbus and completed the sweep with a 5-1 win over the Buckeyes in the regular-season finale as Smith and freshmen forwards Austin Czarnik and Jimmy Mullin combined for four goals and six assists. Knapp was named CCHA Goaltender of the Week for the third time this year last Monday (RELEASE) and also garnered Inside College Hockey (INCH) National Player of the Week for the second time this season last Tuesday (RELEASE) after allowing just one goal in a sweep of Notre Dame Feb. 17-18. Former RedHawk Carter Camper ('11) was called up to the Boston Bruins last Monday as well and played in his first career NHL game Wednesday at the St. Louis Blues. (RELEASE) He then scored his first NHL goal on Saturday against Ottawa. Up Next: The fourth-seeded RedHawks earned a bye in the first round of the CCHA Tournament and are off this weekend before hosting fifth-seeded Michigan State in a quarterfinal series March 9-11 at Steve Cady Arena. The game on March 9 will start at 7:35 p.m. while March 10 and 11 (if necessary) will be at 7:05 p.m.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Last Week: The RedHawks (9-18, 5-9 MAC) split a pair of conference games, topping Kent State at home on Tuesday, 62-60, before falling at Buffalo, 84-74. Sophomore guard Quinten Rollins tied career highs of 18 points and six assists while senior forward Julian Mavunga added 17 points, including the game-winning free throws with 3.8 seconds left, and eight rebounds to help Miami pull out the two-point victory over the Golden Flashes. (RECAP) (PHOTO GALLERY) On Saturday, the 'Hawks played the Bulls even in the first half as the game was knotted at 33 but Mavunga's 20 points weren't enough as Buffalo pulled away late for the win. (RECAP) This Week: Miami plays its final road game of the regular season Wednesday, Feb. 29 at Bowling Green with a 7 p.m. tip. The RedHawks then round out the regular season Friday, March 2 by hosting rival Ohio at 7 p.m. at Millett Hall on Senior Night as Mavunga and Adam Thomas will be honored. Miami is also still fighting to host a first-round game in the upcoming MAC Tournament.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Last Week: Miami (20-8, 10-5 MAC) clinched a bye to the MAC Tournament quarterfinals while splitting a pair of games. On Wednesday, the 'Hawks defeated Akron, 84-76, in front of 800 Talawanda Middle School students as part of the Goals for Life event. Junior guard Courtney Osborn led five RedHawks in double figures with 21 points as Miami secured the bye. (RECAP) (PHOTO GALLERY) On Saturday, the 'Hawks dropped a tough, 64-55 contest at MAC leader Bowling Green as Osborn again tallied 21 points, 19 of which came in a second-half comeback. (RECAP) This Week: Miami closes out the regular by hosting rival Ohio at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at Millett Hall on Senior Night as Miami's three seniors (Rachael Hencke, Maggie Boyer and Lillian Pitts) will be honored.

WOMEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING
Last Week: The RedHawks competed at the MAC Championships in Akron, Ohio and finished in third place behind Toledo (635) and Ohio (612) with 524 points. Sophomore Nikki Craft won the three-meter diving title on Saturday and was named MAC Diver of the Year while Leah Thornton, Bekka Westrick, Craft and Maegan O'Connor were named First-Team All-MAC and Maddie Kete, Stacie Clagg and Lacey Houser earned second-team honors. (DAY 3 RECAP) (PHOTO GALLERY) On day one of the meet Thursday, Miami posted three third-place finishes (DAY 1 RECAP) while O'Connor and Thornton captured the 100 fly and 100 back, respectively, on Friday while Miami won the 200 medley relay, as well. (DAY 2 RECAP) (PHOTO GALLERY) This Week: Select RedHawks will compete at the Ohio Senior State Championships in Columbus March 2-4.
WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
Last Week: Miami finished fifth at the MAC Indoor Track & Field Championships in Akron, Ohio, totaling 66 points. Junior Layne Baggett was the runner-up in the 60m hurdles while senior Alexandra Roberts took second in the shot put Saturday as both earned Second-Team All-MAC honors. Roberts set the school record as well while Miami's 4x400m relay team also broke the school record. (DAY 2 RECAP) (PHOTO GALLERY) On Friday, senior Diona Graves set the 200m dash school record and classmate Rachael Clay broke the 400m dash record in the prelims. (DAY 1 RECAP) This Week: Select RedHawks will compete at the Notre Dame Last Chance meet on Saturday, March 3 in an attempt to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships March 9-10.
BASEBALL
Last Week: The RedHawks (3-3) dropped two of three games in Greenville, S.C., falling to Michigan State and Furman before topping the Spartans in the final game of the weekend. On Friday, Miami was unable to overcome an 11-run third inning by MSU as the 'Hawks fell, 13-4. (RECAP) Saturday, junior Kevin Bower extended his hitting streak to nine games with two hits and a pair of RBIs but Miami was unable to rally late and lost to Furman, 8-6. (RECAP) On Sunday against the Spartans, senior Shawn Marquardt pitched a three-hit, complete-game shutout to lead the RedHawks to a 1-0 win. (RECAP) Last Tuesday, Bower was named MAC East Player of the Week. (RELEASE) This Week: Miami returns south to begin its spring break trip as the 'Hawks face Ole Miss in a three-game series March 2-4 with game times set for 7:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
SOFTBALL
Last Week: Miami (7-2) went 4-1 at the Blues City Classic in Memphis, Tenn. to win the tournament title. On Friday, the RedHawks swept a doubleheader, beating Memphis, 5-0, behind a shutout from senior Jessica Simpson, before topping Southeast Missouri State, 6-2, in the nightcap, bolstered by a three-run home run from senior Jordan McElroy. (RECAP) On Saturday, Miami split its doubleheader, falling 2-1 to Missouri State in the first game while sophomore Paige Myers tossed a shutout in game two, leading Miami to a 2-0 victory over Western Illinois. (RECAP) Sunday, Simpson pitched another shutout as the RedHawks beat Northern Iowa, 2-0. Simpson and Myers were name co-MVPs of the tournament while Kirstie Fehrenbach and Daniela Torres were named to the all-tournament team as well. (RECAP) This Week: The RedHawks head to Clearwater, Fla. over spring break to participate in two tournaments. First up is the USF Under Armour Invitational, Mar. 2-4, where Miami will face Boston College, Loyola Marymount, Quinnipiac, Harvard and host South Florida.
TENNIS
Last Week: The RedHawks (3-8) split a pair of matches over the weekend, topping Marshall before falling to Penn State with both matches at University Park, Pa. Saturday, Miami snapped a five-game losing streak with a dominating, 7-0, win over 65th-ranked Marshall, winning all six singles matches. (RECAP) Sunday, the RedHawks nearly upset No. 61 Penn State, winning the doubles point and two of the first four singles matches to grab a 3-2 lead but the Nittany Lions rallied to win the final two singles points and won the match, 4-3. (RECAP) This Week: After seven straight matches on the road, Miami returns home Saturday, March 3 to host Louisville in Hamilton indoors. Start time is 1 p.m.
SYNCHRONIZED SKATING
Last Week: In preparation for their trip to the U.S. National Championships, the Miami junior, collegiate and senior synchronized skating teams held a Nationals Send-Off Exhibition on Saturday to showcase their programs at Steve Cady Arena. This Week: All three teams head to Worchester, Mass. Thursday, March 1 to Saturday, March 3 for the U.S. National Championships as each team will be competing for a national title.
MEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING
This Week: Miami hosts the 60th annual MAC Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Nixon Aquatic Center March 1-3 (Thursday to Saturday). (RELEASE)
The deadline for current football season ticket holders and Red & White Club members to order 2012 season tickets and buy tickets for the game at Ohio State is fast approaching. On March 1, both of those offers will be extended to everyone, including the general public. (RELEASE)
