OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University field hockey team fell, 3-0, to William & Mary Friday afternoon at the Miami Field Hockey Complex. The RedHawks fall to 1-6 on the season, while the Tribe improve to 4-1.
Two goals within a three minute period proved to be the difference for William & Mary. The Tribe struck first in the 16th minute off the rebound of a penalty corner that Miami goalkeeper Sarah Mueller had initially stopped. In the 18th minute, William & Mary made it 2-0 off a successful penalty corner conversion. The Tribe would get a goal in the 48th minute of play to complete the scoring.
Miami's best offensive chance came in the 44th minute. Kylie Landeros stole the ball and found Amanda Seeley for a breakaway. She beat the goalkeeper, but her shot went just wide of the net.
Brittney Branco led the RedHawks with two shots, one of which was on goal. The Tribe outshot Miami, 15-8 for the game. William & Mary also had a 7-5 advantage on penalty corners. Mueller made five saves in net for Miami.
