Although we are a week away from classes beginning, Miami Athletics has been buzzing with several fall sports teams already on campus preparing for the 2011-12 campaign.

The women's soccer team kicked things off last weekend with an exhibition against Wright State and will be the first of the RedHawk teams to embark on their regular-season schedule this week. Miami and Wright State played three scheduled 30-minute periods in an exhibition game on Friday, finishing in a 2-2 tie. Miami won the shootout 4-1. (RECAP) The RedHawks open the season at home this weekend, hosting IUPUI at 5 p.m. Friday and Morehead State at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Football held its first scrimmage of the season on Saturday. (RECAP) On Monday, Aug. 29, the RedHawks will be holding the inaugural Football Kick-Off Luncheon presented by The Oxford Chamber of Commerce at noon at Millett Hall. Tickets to the luncheon are available for purchase until Aug. 22 by calling the football events hotline at 513-529-2409 or emailing miamifootballevents@muohio.edu. Field hockey also reported to Oxford last week to begin preseason training. (FIRST PRACTICE PHOTO GALLERY) The RedHawks open the season at Indiana on Aug. 26 before hosting Northwestern at noon on Aug. 28.
Both cross country teams return to campus this week to prepare for the 2011 season.

Women's basketball continues its trip in Turkey and Greece. The RedHawks defeated Galatasary Sports Club, 72-56, and followed with a 62-58 win over a different Galatasaray Sports Club team. To access the different journal entries, photo galleries and video recaps of the trip, click HERE.
For the second straight year, the men's track and field team was the only representative from the Mid-American Conference named a Division I All-Academic Team, which were announced last week by the U.S. Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). (RELEASE)
For the seventh straight year, the women's track and field team was also named an All-Academic Team in 2011 for its work in the classroom, the U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association announced Thursday. It is also the ninth time in the last 10 seasons the RedHawks have garnered the honor. (RELEASE)
Baseball will be holding prospect camps on Aug. 27 and Sept. 17, while softball will be hosting elite camps on Aug. 28 and Sept. 11. For more information or to register, go to http://www.miamisportscamps.com/.

In addition to football and hockey, which were previously shown, subscribers will now be able to watch men's and women's basketball, field hockey, soccer, volleyball, men's and women's swimming and diving, baseball and softball. Additionally, subscribers will have early access to Miami Magazine and game highlights, plus see special subscriber-only interviews and features. During the 2011-12 athletic calendar year, more than 100 live events will be aired over the internet platform. The subscription price is $9.95 per month or $79.95 per year, but new subscribers can receive a 10% discount through Sept. 2 by entering promo code 10MU10.
