DeGirolamo Nominated for National Coaching Award

Miami University head synchronized skating coach Carla DeGirolamo has been nominated for the 2011 U.S. Figure Skating/Professional Skating Association (PSA) Coach of the Year Award.
DeGirolamo is one of seven coaches or coaching tandems nominated for the award, which will be announced on Wednesday, May 25 at the annual PSA awards dinner at the Westin Galleria in Dallas, Texas. The U.S. Figure Skating/PSA Coach of the Year Award is presented to a coach who has made a significant impact on an athlete's performance and has distinguished him- or herself through years of successful teaching culminating in a special career achievement during the past year. In her second year at the helm of the RedHawk program, DeGirolamo guided the Miami senior team to a silver medal finish at the 2011 U.S. National Championships and a berth to the ISU World Championships. The RedHawk collegiate team won the program's 13th overall and seventh straight collegiate national title, setting a record for the most consecutive national titles by any team at any level of synchronized skating.
