Miami's Wedge Earns MAC Honor

OXFORD, Ohio -- Miami University linebacker Jerrell Wedge (Upper Marlboro, MD) has been named Defensive Player of the Week for the Mid-American Conference's East Division, the MAC office announced Monday.

Wedge led the team with nine tackles and had a fumble recovery as the RedHawk defense held Akron without a touchdown in a 35-3 victory. Wedge leads the team with 70 tackles, boosting his career total to 291, tied for 18th place among all Division I players.

Miami (4-5 overall, 3-2 MAC) takes on Temple (5-4, 3-3 MAC) in Philadelphia on Wednesday night. ESPN will televise the game that kicks off at 8 p.m. ET.
