Miami Head Coach Don Treadwell

Overall thoughts after the win
This game was a lot like last week, in terms of a total team effort. One of our thoughts all week was to focus and go one play at a time and play the game with great focus. I thought our kids did a great job at that today, and they didn't let the weather be a distraction. I think when those things that you can't control are against you, like the weather, it is even more important to stay focused on the little things.

The play of the defense
The defense just continues to be an inspiration to our entire football team. They generate a lot of excitement in our team in what they do. Over the last couple games, our offense has been able to feed off of the defensive intensity and answer the bell. If you get that momentum going on both sides, it really makes a difference in your ball club.

Play calling due to the weather
Offensively, you have to be aware of the weather at all times. We had to let Coach Klacik know about the weather, as he calls the plays from the press box. That helped him pick and choose when we were going to throw the ball. We stuck with our game plan of a balanced attack, and it paid off as we converted some big strikes throughout the game.

On the run game tonight
We've been continually going back and forth with the run game, mixing and rolling the dice. Semmes had a very good week of practice, and he got an opportunity today to go into the ball game and carry the ball more than in the past, and he answered the bell. That's the kind of thing you have to do in any situation, but especially in a heavy soaked rain game.

Miami Linebacker Jerrell Wedge

On not getting the shutout
We are a little bit disappointed in not getting a shutout, but those things happen. Overall, the defense played a great game today. We wanted a shutout, didn't get it, but hopefully we get one next week against Temple

On pressuring the quarterback
We had some great schemes to get to the quarterback tonight. There were some blitzes that we added this week and it really helped pressure the quarterback.

Miami Running Back Justin Semmes

Overall thoughts on the run game
I am a little bit tired after tonight, and I'm sure I will be feeling it tomorrow. Coming off a short week, we had to focus for Akron. The offensive line did an excellent job up front and we were able to establish the run with the weather conditions the way they were.

On getting the bulk of the carries tonight
This week in practice, they tried me out at running back, but with the weather, other things got modified, and they threw me in there tonight. I made sure I made the best of my opportunity tonight to help the team win.

Akron Head Coach Rob Ianello

On overall loss
"We didn't move the football at all. The way we played in the second half in our last game was not the way we played tonight. Obviously, it's my job to get a team prepared for a game, and I didn't do that tonight. Miami rushed the ball tonight more in the first half then they have done all year. We had some tough injuries, I think we lost 3 receivers in the first quarter, but they had some wide open receivers that really came through for them. All we can do is take a few days off, recooperate, and get ready for Kent State"

On overall offense
"It's a very disappointing effort. We didn't convert on downs and we didn't play the way we should have. I am very disappointed."
