Field Hockey Falls in Regular Season Finale

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Miami University field hockey team fell in its regular season finale, 2-0, to Missouri State on Saturday. The RedHawks will enter the Mid-American Conference Tournament with a record of 6-14 overall, and 4-6 in the MAC. The Bears are 6-11 overall and 2-7 in the MAC.
Miami will be the fifth seed in the upcoming MAC Tournament. Its opponent will be the fourth seed, which will be determined after the conclusion of regular season play on Monday.
Missouri State struck in the 18th minute when Sarah Bradley scored from the middle of the circle. It stayed that way until the 40th minute when Hilary Lawless got a loose ball behind Miami goalkeeper Sarah Mueller and put it into the empty net.
Miami's best chance to score came in the 38th minute when Olivia Miller and Alyssa Logan each got shots off on a penalty corner. Both shots were kicked away by the Bears' goalkeeper.
Missouri State outshot the RedHawks 10-8 for the contest. Miami had the penalty corner advantage at 7-4. Miller led the Red and White with three shots, while Mueller made three saves in net.
The MAC Tournament will be held in Athens, Ohio, Nov. 3-5. The RedHawks quarterfinal game will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
