Junior Team in Fifth Place After Short Program

FOND DU LAC, Wis.--Miami University's junior synchronized skating team sits in fifth place among a 10-team field after the short program at the Junior World Qualifier/Foot of the Lake Classic.
The RedHawks had a clean skate to their short program, which is to Pat Benetar's "Heartbreaker" and "Hit Me with Your Best Shot". Miami posted a score of 42.61 in the short program and trails the Chicago Jazz by 2.4 points. Skyliners lead the field with a score of 56.72 for the short program. Lexettes follow in second place with a score of 52.92, while Team Braemar is in third with a score of 50.13 and Chicago Jazz posted a score of 45.01 to sit in fourth place heading into the free skate event.
The RedHawks lead sixth-place Evolution by 0.18. Evolution posted a score of 42.43 in the short skate.
The Foot of the Lake Classic continues on Saturday with the free skate, which is set to begin at 8:30 p.m. (CT). The top two teams in the junior division will advance to the Junior World Challenge Cup held in Neuchatel, Switzerland March 11-13.
