Baseball (28-26, 13-14 MAC) completed an impressive series sweep of Ohio over the weekend, the RedHawks' second series sweep of the season and first against Ohio since 1995. Freshman right-hander Mac Thoreson tossed a three-hit complete game Thursday evening at McKie Field at Hayden Park while the rest of the team jumped on Ohio early at the plate and cruised to a critical 8-1 victory. (RECAP) On Friday, Miami again received strong pitching and took control early en route to a 7-3 win over Ohio. Junior starter Tyler Melling tossed 7.1 innings while allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits with six strikeouts and a pair of walks. (RECAP) Miami wrapped up the regular season in dominating fashion, downing Ohio, 16-9, Saturday. Miami junior right fielder Adam Eaton made a home run-robbing and also led the `Hawks on offense smacking a pair of triples, giving him eight on the year, which ties Miami's single-season record, while adding to his career triples record of 17. He also drove in four runs, scored twice, walked and was hit by a pitch all while extending his hit streak to a career-best 21 games. (RECAP) Miami will be the No. 6 seed in the MAC Tournament this week, held in Chillicothe, Ohio, and faces Toledo in the opening round at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday. TOURNAMENT BRACKET

Women's track and field sponsored the Miami Mile for Kramer Elementary School. |
While most elementary school students were sitting in a classroom all day last Wednesday, students at Talawanda's Kramer Elementary School took a break to go for a run--the Miami Mile to be exact. The Miami women's track and field team partnered with the local school to help get the students active while showing them how long a mile really is and giving them the opportunity to run alongside some of Miami's top athletes. The men's track and field staff and athletes along with several members of the athletic department also pitched in at the event. All 575 students at Kramer Elementary made the approximately one mile jog from one end of Sycamore Street to the other--starting at the school and ending in the Millett Hall parking lot on Miami's campus.
