NASHPORT, Ohio - The men's golf team finished fourth in the 2010 Mid-American Golf Championship tournament. The RedHawks had their best round of the event Sunday, shooting an eight over par 296 to finish at 50-over par. Kent State won the championship at two under par.
"It was the best finish for the program since 2006, but it was still disappointing," said head coach Casey Lubahn. "We just didn't have enough depth on any day of the event. You need four players to put up good scores each day if you are going to compete against the best teams."
At the conclusion of the tournament, Nathan Sutherland was named First Team All-MAC.
"It was the culmination of a great year for Nate," said Lubahn. "He had six top-10 finishes, and was the top Miami finisher in 10 different events. He is our leader and will continue to lead next year."
Michael Drobnick had the top round for the RedHawks Sunday. He shot a one under par 71 to finish at 14-over par and a tie for 17th. Sutherland was the top finisher for Miami overall. After his final round 74, he finished tied for sixth at seven over par.
Craig Voorhees, the only senior playing this week for Miami, finished tied for 19th at 15-over par. Blake English tied for 29th at 20-over par. Brett Tomfohrde was tied for 35th at 25-over par.
