Sixty-eight RedHawk student-athletes participated in Saturday's graduation ceremonies at Yager Stadium, and a total of 3,722 individuals were awarded Miami University degrees at the 171st spring commencement ceremony. (RELEASE)
While the tunes of "Pomp and Circumstance" were ringing throughout Oxford over the weekend, Miami's athletic teams were belting out strong performances and racking up several wins.

Good luck to coach Ricardo Rosas and the women's tennis team as it competes in the NCAA Championships for a second consecutive year. And for a second straight year, Miami (18-6) faces Northwestern in the opening round of the tournament. (RELEASE) The RedHawks open tournament play on Friday, May 14 against the 12-time Big Ten Champion and No. 6 overall seeded Wildcats (21-6) and would face either Illinois or Nebraska on Saturday if they win on Friday. (BRACKET) Congratulations also go out to sophomore Riekie Honiball for being named MAC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week.

Softball (31-22; 14-8 MAC) had a stellar week, going 6-0, including 4-0 in Mid-American Conference action to earn the No. 3 seed in this week's MAC Tournament. The RedHawks jumped three spots in the final standings with a pair of series sweeps over the weekend. Miami, the defending MAC Tournament Champion, faces No. 6 seed Northern Illinois at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. (BRACKET) With Sunday's 2-1 win against Akron, Miami's seniors recorded the 113th win of their careers, which ties them with the class of 1991 as the winningest class in Miami history. (RECAP) Two shutout pitching performances, along with an all-around great day from senior shortstop Sarah Billstrom led Miami to a doubleheader sweep of Wright State on Tuesday to start off the week. The RedHawks won game one, 8-0, in six innings. They took the nightcap, 2-0. (RECAP) Strong pitching and some timely hitting led the RedHawks to a doubleheader sweep of Ohio on Friday afternoon. Miami took the first game 4-0 and followed with a 7-2 win in the nightcap. Sophomore pitcher Jessica Simpson was the story of game one. She threw her eighth shutout of the year, allowing only three singles and no walks. No Ohio batter reached second base the entire game on Simpson. (RECAP) A sixth inning home run by Billstrom propelled Miami to a come-from-behind 4-2 win over Akron on Saturday night before completing the series sweep of the Zips with Sunday's win. (RECAP)
Baseball (23-23; 10-11 MAC) also made some noise in the MAC standings, going 2-1 against Kent State, who entered the weekend as the East Division leader. The rallying RedHawks did it again. For the second time in less than a month, Miami overcame a deficit of at least six runs as junior left fielder Kyle Weldon singled in the tying and game-winning runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to complete a four-run rally and send the 'Hawks to a thrilling, 10-9 walk-off win. (RECAP) A three-run home run by Kent State in the third inning proved to be the difference as the RedHawks were unable to complete another comeback and fell, 4-3, to the Flashes Saturday evening. (RECAP) Junior starting pitcher Tyler Melling dazzled on the mound for the Miami and the RedHawks held off a late Kent State rally to earn a hard-fought, 5-4 victory Sunday afternoon in the rubber match of the weekend series. (RECAP) The RedHawks play a pair of mid-week games against Cincinnati, including a home game at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, before heading to Buffalo for a three-game series this weekend.

The women's track and field team recorded 13 top-five finishes at the Billy Hayes Invitational last Friday. Redshirt sophomore Rachel Patterson claimed the 1500m title in a personal-best time of 4:29.98, which ranks her sixth all-time among RedHawks. (RECAP) Miami now heads to the MAC Championships, which are hosted by the University at Buffalo from Thursday, May 13 to Saturday, May 15.

Junior John Gausmann took first place in the discus Friday at the Billy Hayes Invitational, while a total of four members of the men's track and field team earned top-five finishes. (RECAP) The RedHawks now compete for a conference crown at the MAC Championships, hosted by the University at Buffalo, from Thursday, May 13 to Saturday, May 15.
