RedHawks Drop 5-2 Decision to Louisville

OXFORD, Ohio-Junior Megan Martzolf extended her season record to 16-0 at No. 3 singles, but it was not enough as Miami University's women's tennis team (10-6) suffered a 5-2 loss to Louisville (10-10) on Friday afternoon at the Hepburn Varsity Courts.
It was the final home match of the season for the RedHawks.
Martzolf posted a dominant 6-0, 6-4 win in the third singles flight for Miami's first point of the day. Junior Anastasia Dracheva also won in singles action, posting a solid 6-2, 6-3 win at the No. 1 spot. With losses at No. 6 and No. 2, Miami still remained in the match as both No. 3 and No. 5 went to three sets.
Sophomore Riekie Honiball opened with a 6-1 win in the first set against Kaysara Mandry but suffered 6-2, 6-4 losses in the next two sets in the third flight. Junior Cara Wald was edged 7-5 (7-3) in the opening set at the No. 5 spot before coming back with a 6-4 win in the second set. Wald lost the third set 6-1 to Amelia Harris.
Louisville captured the doubles point with 8-5 wins at both the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Dracheva and junior Sydnee Bridger posted an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
Miami resumes Mid-American Conference play at Ball State at noon on Saturday, April 10.
