Dave Young Memorial Celebration Moved to Millett Hall

Young passed away on March 29 at the age of 69. He was the longest tenured sports information director in Miami history, serving Miami Athletics from 1967-1991. The Bowling Green, Ohio, native scored over 1,800 Miami baseball games during his career and had the press box at McKie Field named in his honor in 2003.
The service will include words from the Young family, as well as some of Dave's closest friends. A reception for those in attendance will follow the Celebration. Parking is available in Millett Hall's West Lot.
Young was inducted into the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Hall of Fame in 1992 and became a member of the Miami Athletics Hall of Fame in 1995.
Young is survived by his wife Marilyn, sons Scott (and wife, Annette) and Jay (and wife, Carrie), and his grandchildren: Nick, Nichole, Megan, Michelle, Julie, Julian, Jonathan and Jameson.
A memorial fund has been established in Young's memory and in lieu of flowers and for those interested, the Young family has asked that contributions be made to the Dave Young Memorial Fund for Athletics at Miami University. Checks can be made payable to Miami University, including the name of the fund in the memo portion, and sent to Miami University, 725 E. Chestnut Street, Oxford, OH 45056.
