OXFORD, Ohio -- Junior Maggie Boyer scored a career-high 34 points, including 20 in the second half, to lead Miami to a 101-92 victory over Cal State-Bakersfield Saturday afternoon at Millett Hall. The RedHawks improved to 6-3 with their fifth consecutive victory. CSUB falls to 7-5 overall.

Cal State-Bakersfield held a slim 53-52 lead early in the second half when Miami broke the game open. The RedHawks ran off a 17-5 spurt that pushed the lead to double digits for the first time, 69-58, with 10:14 remaining.
After an Amber Williams three, Miami used another 12-2 run, capped by Boyer's sixth triple of the game, to make the score 81-63, at the 6:25 mark.
The Roadrunners made a final challenge, closing to eight late in the game, but the Redhawks hit 10 of their 14 free throws in the final 2:13 to preserve the victory.

Miami bolted to an 18-7 lead after six minutes on a dead-on shooting effort by Boyer. The junior hit five of her first six shots for 14 of those points.
The Roadrunners answered back, though, using an 18-7 run to even the game at 25 after a Kristie Herman three. After the teams traded baskets, Miami tallied five in a row for a 32-27 lead, only to see CSUB hit back-to-back threes for its first lead of the game.
