Munro Named Assistant Director of Development

OXFORD, Ohio -- Miami University Athletic Director Brad Bates and Vice President for University Advancement Jayne Whitehead have named Garrett Munro as assistant director of development for intercollegiate athletics.
Munro comes to Oxford after serving as assistant director of development at Ohio University, where he also earned his master's degrees in Business Administration and Sports Administration. While at Ohio, he was responsible for planning and organizing the Bobcat Representative Program, a grass-roots initiative to raise money and gain membership in the Ohio Bobcat Club. He worked closely with the group on the restructuring and fulfillment of the benefits program and coordinated and managed premium seating for football and men's basketball .
While in graduate school, he served an internship with Indiana's Varsity Club, assisting with various projects to support the Hoosier athletic department, including the Glory Plaza Brick Paver program. He has also served as a consultant for the Appalachian Region Entrepreneurship Group and as an Audit Associate with KPMG.
Munro's responsibilities at Miami will include coordinating Miami's Red & White Club, spanning solicitation and fulfillment. He will also help energize giving from Miami's young alumni to athletics, and will serve as a liaison to the University's Annul Fund, among other areas.
In 2007, Munro earned his undergraduate degree in accounting from SUNY New Paltz, where he was a four-year member of the varsity soccer team. Munro is originally from Sidney, New York.
