OXFORD, Ohio -- Fraternities, sororities and residence hall councils will be competing for a large check at the Miami University Homecoming game on Saturday. A $2,500 prize, donated by Head Football Coach Michael Haywood, will be awarded to the one group with the highest percentage in attendance in Yager Stadium.
The winner will be determined on a percentage basis, giving each group an equal shot at taking home the prize. Students must check in at the Southeast corner of the stadium to be counted.
"It's really important that we have the students' support," Haywood said. "Central Michigan's students were loud and boisterous and we need that for this game. I'm going out this week to try to get our students to support us."
If a Residence Hall wins, the money goes toward the Residence Hall Community Council to provide for activities throughout the year. If a Greek Chapter wins, the money will go toward the chapter's designated philanthropy.
The check will be awarded at the end of the game.
