MIAMI GAME NOTES
- Two RedHawks made their initial appearances in the Red and White Saturday. Michigan transfer Vince Helmuth and true freshman Allen Veazie both missed the first six games due to injuries.
- Miami's win was the first on the road since Oct. 18, 2008, snapping an 11-game slide. The RedHawks were 0-9 in opponent's home stadiums during the coaching tenure of Michael Haywood.
- Senior Seth Philip converted his first career attempt from placement in the second quarter. He was called in for the extra-point on Miami's first touchdown after Trevor Cook suffered an injury earlier in the period. His 40-yard field goal near the end of the first half was his first career three-pointer, then he added another in the fourth quarter.
- When Miami scored the first points of the contest, it ended a four-game run of falling behind. The RedHawks trailed Cincinnati, Kent State, Missouri and Colorado State. Saturday marked the third time this year that Miami had opened the scoring.
- Evan Harris became the first player in four years to make two interceptions in a game. Joey Hudson had a pair of picks Oct. 11, 2006 against Buffalo (and against Purdue that year). With three interceptions this year (also in his career), Harris took over the team lead in interceptions, passing Dayonne Nunley and Pat Hinkel (two each). Harris finished the day with a career-best 11 tackles.
- Andy Cruse put the RedHawks up 7-0 with his first touchdown catch of the season. It was the second score of his career as he made a 10-yard grab from Dysert against Toledo last year. Cruse surpassed both of his career highs by halftime with six catches for 100 yards. He finished the day with eight catches for 179 yards, the sixth-best receiving day in Miami history.
- True freshman Nick Harwell made his first career touchdown reception in the third quarter, putting Miami up 17-7. The 24-yard play put Harwell over his career high for yardage (62 at Cincinnati last week). In the last two weeks, Harwell has 14 catches for 166 yards (eight for 97 vs. CMU). One of Saturday's catches went for 29 yards, a career-long.
- Armand Robinson topped the century receiving mark for the second time this season with 102 yards. He had 111 in the season opener vs. Florida.
- Zac Dysert topped the 4,000-yard passing mark in the first half. His 399-yard performance (27-of-47) performance was tied for seventh-best in school history and was his second-best effort (behind 426 at Temple last year)
