After counting down the top-10 Miami Athletics moments of the past decade to close out 2009 (to see the list click HERE), we begin 2010 and the next decade in search of more great Miami moments, as Miami Athletics kicks back into full swing with four teams competing this upcoming week after women's basketball was the only RedHawk squad to see action last week.

The women's basketball team (2-11) picked up its second win of the year Wednesday, Dec. 30, as five RedHawks scored in double figures, including 20 points apiece from sophomores Rachael Hencke and Maggie Boyer, to lead Miami to an 85-78 victory over Eastern Illinois in Oxford. (RECAP) The lady hoopsters then suffered a setback in the "Battle of the Miamis," falling to the Hurricanes, 75-61, Sunday, Jan. 3, at Millett Hall in the final non-conference game of the year. (RECAP) The women return to the hardwood Wednesday, Jan. 6, at 7 p.m. at Buffalo in their Mid-American Conference opener before hosting Kent State on Saturday, Jan. 9, at 2 p.m. in their MAC home opener.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL VS. EASTERN ILLINOIS PHOTO GALLERY
Men's basketball (3-9) wraps-up a four-game road trip this week after a 12-day layoff. The RedHawks head west to face the Colorado Buffaloes of the Big 12 in the first-ever meeting between the schools Tuesday, Jan. 5, with tip-off set for 9 p.m. ET (7 p.m. local). The game will be televised on FS Rocky Mountain. The men then open MAC play Saturday, Jan. 9, at 4 p.m. against the Buffalo Bulls in Buffalo to complete the road swing. Radio broadcasts of both games can be heard on the Miami ISP Sports Network affiliate stations with pre-game coverage beginning a half hour before tip-off for both contests.
Ice hockey (13-2-5, 10-1-3-1 CCHA) looks to maintain its No. 1 ranking this weekend when it steps out of conference for a home-and-home series with Robert Morris University. The RedHawks return to the ice after a four-week layoff Friday, Jan. 8, at 8:05 p.m. against the Colonials in Pittsburgh, as the game will be played in Mellon Arena, home of the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins. The two teams then square off again in Oxford Sunday, Jan. 10, with puck drop set for 4:05 p.m. at Steve Cady Arena.
Congratulations to Miami hockey alum Dan Boyle, who was named to the Canadian Olympic Hockey team for the upcoming 2010 Winter Olympics. (RELEASE) Boyle and his fellow countrymen will compete for a gold medal this February in his native Canada, as the games will be held in Vancouver.
Synchronized skating hits the ice again this weekend as it travels to Lowell, Mass. for the Junior World Qualifiers Friday, Jan. 8, and Saturday, Jan. 9.
Women's swimming jumped to the No. 1 spot in the latest College Swimming Coaches' Mid-Major Poll this week. (RELEASE) The RedHawks return to the pool January 15 at 5 p.m. in a dual meet with Cincinnati at the Nixon Aquatic Center.
The Miami Hockey team's annual "Rico's Ristorante'" -- an all-you-can-eat dinner served by the RedHawks -- will be held Tuesday, Jan. 5, at the Bell Tower Place. The event starts at 6 p.m. and has a cost of $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. (RELEASE)
