Miami Post Game Notes
- Now in its 31st season as a program, this is Miami University's first trip to the Frozen Four.
- This is the first time any team at Miami University has competed in a national semifinal contest.
- Miami University is playing in its seventh NCAAĆ¢â'¬Ćā Tournament. The RedHawks have now posted a 5-6 record in NCAAĆ¢â'¬Ćā Tournament games.
- Miami University won both of its previous two meetings with Bemidji State. The RedHawks posted identical 4-2 wins over the Beavers during a two-game series at Bemidji State in Nov. 2000.
- Miami University entered the Frozen Four successfully killing 12-of-13 penalties during the NCAAĆ¢â'¬Ćā Tournament. The RedHawks were 3-of-4 on the penalty kill tonight.
- Miami University entered the Frozen Four 0-of-13 on the power play during the NCAAĆ¢â'¬Ćā Tournament. The RedHawks were 1-of-2 on the power play tonight. Tommy Wingels' second-period power-play goal was his second power-play of the season and his first since Oct. 17, 2008.
- Tommy Wingels' second-period goal was his first goal since Feb. 13, 2009 (11 games).
- Wingels has now recorded six multiple-point games this year. His two goals and one assist tonight gave him his second multi-point game of the NCAAĆ¢â'¬Ćā Tournament (two assists vs. Denver in the region semifinal).
- Wingels also posted his first multi-goal game since Dec. 14 vs. RPI (23 games ago) and tied his career high for goals in a game (has notched two goals in four games in his career).
- Miami University improved its record to 6-1-1 this season and to 18-2-1 when Wingels scores a goal in a game. The RedHawks are also 11-2-1 this year and 28-4-1 when he scores a point.
- Miami University's nine points tonight were recorded by seven different players.
- Miami University has now allowed four goals in three NCAAĆ¢â'¬Ćā Tournament games. Cody Reichert has been in goal for the RedHawks for all but eight seconds of the NCAAĆ¢â'¬Ćā Tournament.
- Miami University has outscored its opponents 10-3 during the NCAAĆ¢â'¬Ćā Tournament.
- Cody Reichert has now allowed four goals and made 65 saves during the NCAAĆ¢â'¬Ćā Tournament. He also has allowed just 12 goals over the last 21 periods of play.
- Alden Hirschfeld's second-period goal was his first game-winning goal of the season.
Bemidji State Post Game Notes
- This is Bemidji State's first trip to the Frozen Four since joining the Division I ranks during the 1999-2000 season.
- This is Bemidji State's third trip to the NCAAĆ¢â'¬Ćā Tournament on the Division I level. The Beavers lost their opening games in both the 2005 and 2006 tournaments before winning a pair of games to reach this year's Frozen Four.
- Bemidji State lost both of its previous two meetings with Miami University. The RedHawks posted identical 4-2 wins over the Beavers during a two-game series at Bemidji State in Nov. 2000.
- Bemidji State entered the Frozen Four successfully killing 9-of-9 penalties during the NCAAĆ¢â'¬Ćā Tournament and 69-of-75 (92.0%) over the previous 12 games. They were 1-of-2 on the penalty kill tonight.
- Bemidji State entered the Frozen Four 1-of-9 on the power play during the NCAAĆ¢â'¬Ćā Tournament. The Beavers were 1-of-4 on the power play tonight. Matt Read's second-period power-play goal was his second power-play goal of the season and the first since Oct. 24, 2008.
- Bemidji State has now posted a record of 12-2-0 when Matt Read scores a goal.
- Matt Read's goal moved him into a tie for 11th place on Bemidji State's Division I scoring list with 67 career points (tied Ryan Miller, 2003-07).
- Matt Read has now scored a point in each of the last seven games (7G-7A=14 pts).
- Bemidji State has now posted a record of 2-16-1 when allowing three or more goals in a game this season (16-5-1 when allowing two or fewer goals).
- The last time Bemidji State allowed at least four or goals in a game was five games ago during a 6-4 win over Robert Morris. The Beavers allowed a total of five goals in its four most recent wins over Alabama-Huntsville, Robert Morris, Notre Dame and Cornell.
- Tyler Scofield's second-period assist was the 63rd of his career and allowed him to take over third place by himself for the most assists tallied during Bemidji State's Division I era.
- Tyler Scofield increased his scoring streak to eight consecutive games with his assist (10G-7A=14 pts) and has tallied one assist in each of the last seven games.
