Miami vs. Bowling Green
Redshirt sophomore linebacker Jerrell Wedge had a sack in the game, giving him 5.5 sacks on the year, which ranks in the top 10 in the MAC. He also finished with 2.5 tackles for loss (for 12 yards) in the game, giving him 18 on the year, by far tops in the MAC. Wedge finished with a game-high-tying 13 total tackles, the second-highest total of his career.
Miami's 89-yard touchdown drive (13 plays in 6:01) capped by redshirt freshman quarterback Zac Dysert's 2-yard run late in the first quarter was the RedHawks' longest drive of the season. Miami also scored on an 85-yard drive in the second quarter. Prior to tonight, their previous long was an 84-yard touchdown drive last Thursday at Temple. Miami now has nine touchdown drives of 80 yards or more this season.
Freshman safety Pat Hinkel forced and recovered the first fumble of his young career in the first quarter when he forced Bowling Green's punter to drop the snap on fourth down deep in Bowling Green territory.
Redshirt junior tight end Jordan Stevens hauled in a career-long 15-yard reception from quarterback Zac Dysert late in the first quarter, setting up a Miami touchdown. It was his only catch of the day.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Zac Dysert scored on a 2-yard rush in the first quarter and a 1-yard rush in the second quarter, giving him five rushing touchdowns in the last five games. He finished with -18 yards rushing however on 16 carries, as he was sacked six times. Miami has now given up 52 sacks on the year.
Senior running back Andre Bratton scampered for a 32-yard run in the second quarter, which set up Miami's second touchdown of the game, marking Miami's longest rush this season. The previous long rush this year for Miami was a 29-yard run by freshman Roman Lawson at Western Michigan (9/19).
Freshman linebacker Evan Harris made his first-career fumble recovery late in the second quarter in the end zone for a touchback, preventing a Bowling Green score. Junior cornerback Brandon Stephens forced the fumble, his first-career forced fumble.
Miami had just four fumble recoveries in its first 10 games this year but had two Thursday night (by freshman Pat Hinkel and Evan Harris).
Freshman defensive lineman Austin Brown blocked his second field goal this season when he got his paw on Matt Norsic's 34-yard attempt that resulted in a touchback in the third quarter.
Junior wide receiver Jamal Rogers hauled in a career-high eight catches for a career-high-tying 81 yards Thursday night. He also had 81 receiving yards at Michigan last year.
Despite the loss, Miami controlled time of possession for the sixth time in 10 games this year, holding the ball for 31:17 compared to BGSU's 28:43.
Redshirt sophomore safety Anthony Kokal tied a career high with 13 tackles (tied for a game high) vs. Bowling Green, including his first solo tackle for loss of his career.
Junior cornerback Brandon Stephens had a career-best 10 tackles including a career-high six solo stops.
Bowling Green's win over Miami was just their second in the last 11 meetings with the RedHawks (since 1998), both of which have come at Yager Stadium (the other in 2005).
