Miami Head Coach Jill Reeve
On the game overall:
"I know the score was 5-1, but I felt that we outplayed Michigan State in a lot of areas. They finished and we didn't. That is a shame that the score looks so lop-sided. I was really pleased with how we played. I think we had a 10-minute lapse that put us behind and we had a hard time coming out of it."
On her strategy coming into the game and if it changed:
"Our strategy coming into the game was to play a high-paced game. I think Michigan State plays one as well. We didn't change much after (the Michigan State goals) strategically. We did own a lot more of the second half than we did in the first half."
On freshman Amanda Seeley's strong play today:
"She is a defensive terrier. You cannot get away from her. She played really well and came up with some big intercepts. I think that, as she grows as a player, she is going to become more and more formidable."
On the match-up of the Huck sisters:
"It is hard, because someone is going to be on the losing side of a game. But we need to take the things that we need to improve out of this game and move forward with the positive things that we did."
On what makes Michigan State tough to play:
"They have a lot of experience. They have some international influence in their team. They have good leadership. Those pieces really help them out. "
On Sunday's game with Pacific:
"Pacific is very much like us. They are fast to the ball. They like to press high. I think it is going to be a really fun game. Both teams are similar. "
Junior Forward Maggie Marcum
On her goal:
"Mary Hull was dribbling down the field and two players came up on her, so she passed it into a space. I picked it up on the move and brought it to the side of the circle. I took the shot and it went across to the opposite post. I knew she was going to come over to where I was, on that side of the cage. I tried to aim for the opposite post as much as I possibly could."
On how they attacked Michigan State:
"We wanted to play our game as much as possible and come out with a lot of speed. We had a couple hiccups, but, other than that, we played a great game."
Freshman Goalkeeper Abbey Huck
On the game, overall:
"I think our team played well. The score did not reflect the game. Both teams played really well. It was a nice fought match. We did have some tweaks in the defense that we are going to clean up. They (Michigan State) are a good team."
On what Michigan State did well against them:
"We need to finish on some stuff that we need to do. Finish on every ball. They had some nice corners."
On her match against her sister, Haley, a Michigan State sophomore forward:
"Before the game, all day today, we did not talk. When it came to game time, we did our little handshake in the middle of the field. It was really weird to see her on the field. I had to put that aside. On the field she is just another player and off the field she is my sister. We have played over 120 games together in club and in high school. This is the first time, other than scrimmaging and in practice, that we played against each other. "
On how she thinks the rest of the weekend will go:
"I think on Sunday, we will come out strong and we should have a nice fought match against Pacific."
