Head Coach Jill Reeve
On what change in strategy caused the six-goal outburst in the second half:
"It asn't any change in strategy. It was our team trying to stay the course and let the game come into their hands. We were getting some chances in the first half. But, I think their ability to stick with the game and allow it to come to them was really mature and I was impressed by that."
On Richmond's athleticism and how they prepared for it:
"We were prepared for a physical game. They are a good passing team. We were prepared for a defensive structure and how we were going to press and manage them. The ladies understood that pretty well. We were a little bit loose in the first half with our defensive pressure. I think we stepped it up in the second half and it paid off."
On the RedHawks scoring six goals in 25 minutes:
"What was great about it is that we had scoring from so many players. So it proves that you can't just take one person out of the game and have us cornered. We have a lot of talent all around the field."
On one player that has surprised her with her early-season play:
"I think Kylie Landeros in the center really held the fort. She came up with some big tackles. She positioned herself well. She was very poised with the ball and I think that settled our team down. It was really nice to have her in the center of the field."
On her impressions two games into the 2008 season:
"I am really pleased with our first weekend. The ladies put together two games back-to-back which is a really difficult thing to do. I think they showed their colors a little bit today."
On what she is looking for next weekend at Northwestern:
"We have a few things to clean up. We are a little bit aggressive in our press. We need to be able to drop out of that as well when things are kind of coming apart. But, I feel like our basics are where they should be at this point."
Junior forward Mary Hull
On Miami's execution:
"Our team was passing really well. I think we just had to get used to the tempo of the game and get used to the defense of the other team. It took us until the second half to adjust to that. After the first goal the momentum and our team's motivation just lifted."
On her first goal:
"Amanda Seeley was coming down the right side. I was in front of the defender that came up on her. She passed the ball through the defender's legs. I turned around and shot it through the goalie's legs."
On being back on the field after nearly a year away due to injury:
"It feels great. It was definitely a challenge to get back into it. A year is a long time to be off the field. I am really happy to be back. After the first game yesterday, today felt a lot better. I am excited for this season."
Freshman forward Jackie Nguyen
On her first collegiate goal:
"I got a really good pass in the corner and I just did a little back hit into the corner post."
On her second goal:
"Courtney Fretz hit it out to me and I just took the shot from the top of the circle."
On what college field hockey is like compared to high school and club:
"It is a lot faster and it takes a lot of work and it is harder. But, that feeling that you get after you make a goal just makes it worth it."
