OXFORD, Ohio - The pre-game spot to visit with friends and family in a festive atmosphere is going into its second year since being remodeled and moved from Millett Hall lawn, Tailgate Town 2008. The numerous improvements added in year one will continue to enhance in 2008. The pre-game concert series will be filled with a wide range of live music.
Fans can expect live music from popular local bands on center stage. For the August 28 Thursday night football game versus Vanderbilt, fans will enjoy New Orleans R & B, Creole Funk, Blues & Zydeco and Louisiana-Styled Rock `n' Roll performed by Robin Lacy.
On September 13 versus Charleston Southern, Tailgate Town will host the Miami University Steel Band. The steel band will perform musical styles from the Caribbean such as calypso, samba and salsa. However, they have a special emphasis on original compositions. The Miami Steel Band is one of the few University bands to have released professional-quality recordings.
For Family Weekend on October 4, the 70's classic rock band After Midnight will perform center stage. After Midnight has selected their playlist from Billboard magazine's list of "All Time Greatest classic rock songs ever written", with a focus on classic rock songs from 1970 to 1979.
Prior to the October 25 Homecoming game, Miami's own Jackson Rohm will entertain on center stage. A native of Cleveland and '93 graduate of Miami University, Rohm participated as a track and field student-athlete. Jackson's acoustic sound is eclectic, combining pop and rock elements with country music and sure to entertain a variety of fans.
"The new entertainment and energy for Tailgate Town 2008 is one of our core initiatives, create the distinctive Miami game day experience for our fans," stated Anthony J. Azama, marketing director.
