RedHawks Take Third at MAC Championships

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Miami University women's track and field team finished third at the MAC Outdoor Championships at Bowling Green State University after Saturday's final events.
The RedHawks' 73.50 points placed them behind Akron, who won with 208.50 and Western Michigan, who took second with 153.
Kristina Bolterstein won her first MAC outdoor championship in the high jump, clearing 5-8 ¾. Katelyn Kelly was second at 5-7, while Kristen Mathews was fourth, also clearing 5-7.
Amanda Mirochna ran impressively in the 1500 meters, taking second with a time of 4:42.16. Betsy Allen took sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time 56.17, while Katie Lenahan took seventh in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.74.
Margarita Pogorelov took eighth in the 200-meter dash at 25.32 after being disqualified for false starting in the 100-meter finals.
Laura Neufarth secured another second place finish for Miami, this time in the 5000 meters, ending in 17:34.20. Rebekah Hollander took sixth in the event with a time of 17:53.39.
DeLana Turner took fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.83. Alexis Lape was fifth, while Andrea Tepe and Julia Dempster were seventh and eighth in the 400-meter hurdles. Lape was at 1:02.44, while Tepe ended in 1:03.75 and Dempster was at 1:03.82.
The RedHawk 4X400 meter relay team took fifth with a time of 3:55.78, while the 4X100 meter team ended in 47.32, good for sixth place.
Several RedHawks will move on to competition in the NCAA Regionals. Further details will be provided this coming week.
