RedHawks Fall at Wisconsin, 6-1

MADISON, Wis.--Playing its final non-conference match of the regular-season, Miami University's women's tennis team lost a hard-fought 6-1 match at Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon.
The RedHawks drop to 6-5 overall, while the Badgers move to 6-8 on the season.
Miami had four singles matches go to three sets with the Red and White coming out on top in one.
Freshman Anastasia Dracheva returned to the Miami lineup full force, accounting for the RedHawks' lone point off a win at No. 1 singles to move to 7-0 on the season. Dracheva notched a 6-4 win in the first set. UW's Elizabeth Carpenter took the second set 6-2, but Dracheva came back to hammer out a dominant 6-0 win in the third set.
Sophomore Brintney Larson was edged at No. 2 singles. Larson won the first set 6-1 and was edged in the second set, 5-7. UW's Emese Kardhordo topped Larson in the third set 6-1. At No. 3 singles, Wisconsin's Katya Mirnova started off with a 6-3 win in the first set, but freshman Cara Wald came back with a 6-2 win in the second set. Mirnova, however, came back with a 6-2 win in the third set to pick up the win.
Senior Leda Pesatova started out with a 6-3 win at No. 4 singles but lost the second set 0-6 before falling in the third set 6-7 (5-7). Senior Kelly Douple lost 2-6, 0-6 at No. 5 singles, while freshman Sydnee Bridger lost at No. 6 singles, 4-6, 2-6.
In doubles play, Larson and Dracheva were edged in the first flight, 6-8, while Wald and Bridger teamed up at No. 2 doubles and suffered a 3-8 loss. Douple and Pesatova lost 1-8 at No. 3 doubles.
Miami returns to action at Ball State at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 22 in its Mid-American Conference opener.
