RedHawks Conclude Play at MAC Fall Invite

KALAMAZOO, Mich.--Six RedHawks competed at the MAC Fall Invite over the weekend, which featured players from all the Mid-American Conference women's tennis programs and was hosted by Western Michigan University.
Sophomore Cara Wald, a MAC All-Tournament Team selection last year as a freshman, advanced to the finals of the singles flight one consolation bracket. After falling in her opening match, Wald came back with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Ball State's Sarah Hebble to advance to the consolation finals where she was defeated by Eastern Michigan's Miriam Westerink.
Junior Lauren Hofmann also advanced to the consolation finals in singles action in flight five. After falling in her opening round match, Hofmann came back and hammered out a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over Ball State's Kylee Johnson before being edged in three sets by Northern Illinois' Emily Rogers in the consolation finals.
Freshman Jessica Parr also picked up a win in singles action in flight six. Parr defeated Ball State's Hanna Ohman 7-5, 6-2.
In doubles, Parr and Hoffman teamed up and won their opening match in the third flight against Ball State's Johnson/Surowiec, 8-4. Sophomore Sydnee Bridger teamed up with Wald in flight one doubles. The duo lost their opening match but went on to defeat Western Michigan's Kerr/Nalepa, 8-3.
Miami returns to action at the ITA Regionals in East Lansing, Mich., Oct. 23-17.
