OXFORD, Ohio -- Beginning Aug. 1, MURedHawks.com, the online home of Miami University Athletics, will have a new look as the department unveils its new website in time for the beginning of the 2006-07 athletic seasons. The redesigned site, which is hosted by CSTV (College Sports TV), features increased multimedia content, larger pictures and an easier-to-navigate layout.
"We are excited to roll out our new site and provide our fans across the country with new ways to follow all the great things being done by our student-athletes," said Mike Harris, Miami's Assistant Director of Athletics for External Affairs. "It provides a way for us to bring our fans and student-athletes closer together through things such as question-and-answer profiles and weekly blogs, while increasing our ability to supply audio and video content."
The new MURedHawks.com is designed in a widescreen format that allows more information to be simultaneously displayed on the screen and places the most important items at the top of the page. New to the front page of the site is a rotating top story, that scrolls through the three most recent releases and includes a larger wide-format photo. Also prominent on the front of the main page is a new MSN All-Access video player that will provide Miami fans with game highlights, previews and team profiles on a weekly basis.
Also available in conjunction with the new site will be increased levels of podcasting available through iTunes by searching `Miami Sports Network'. The podcasts will feature game highlights and previews in addition to interviews with Miami coaches and players.
Located above the main story on the front page is a new-and-improved scrolling ticker that can be customized to give fans instant access to results of the most recent RedHawk sporting events and includes links to box scores and recaps. The ticker also lets fans know when game audio or video is available online.
Links to other areas of the site are featured prominently above the ticker in pull down menus and at the very top of the page fans can sign up to receive Miami's E-Newsletter for the latest news regarding their favorite RedHawk teams.
The question-and-answer and blog segments of the website will be developed and introduced as student-athletes return to campus in late August.
Miami kicks off its 2006-07 athletic seasons on Aug. 25 with both the soccer and volleyball teams in action. Soccer travels to Morehead, Ky., to tackle Morehead State while the volleyball squad takes on Centenary College at the Lady Vol Classic in Knoxville.
