Miami Athletic Department Announces Hirings

OXFORD, Ohio -- Five new members have joined the Athletic Department staff, Miami University announced. Positions in strength and conditioning, sports medicine, marketing, and media relations have been filled by Colleen Day, Matt Cady, Amy Whitman, Christopher Bausano, and David Kiefer.
Former women's basketball standout Colleen Day returns to Oxford as an intern with the RedHawks' strength and conditioning program. Day played at Miami from 2000-04. She recently spent a year playing professional basketball and student-teaching in Germany. While at Miami, Day was a First-Team All-Mid-American Conference selection in 2004, a six-time MAC East Division Player of the Week and a three-year co-captain. She also garnered numerous academic honors as she was named CoSIDA Second-Team Academic All-America and Academic All-MAC in 2004.
Matt Cady will assist Day as an intern with the strength and conditioning program. Cady played four seasons for the RedHawks Ice Hockey Team from 2000-04, and he graduated from Miami with a degree in health and sports studies. Cady spent last year as a volunteer assistant hockey coach with the Denver Pioneers, the defending national champions. He also assisted in the Pioneers strength and conditioning program and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
Miami graduate Amy Whitman joins the sports medicine staff after spending five years as an athletic trainer in the high school ranks. Since 2001, Whitman served as the head athletic trainer at Turpin High School in Cincinnati where she was responsible for over 300 athletes. She also was an assistant at Spectrum Rehabilitation in Cincinnati. Whitman graduated from Miami in 2000 with bachelor's degrees in education, zoology and health and sports studies.
In marketing, Christopher Bausano joins the Miami staff as its director of ticket sales. Bausano previously worked as a marketing specialist with U.S. Bank. He comes to Miami with over five years of experience in professional sports. Bausano worked with the Cincinnati Cyclones Hockey Club of the International Hockey League (1999-2003) and the Cincinnati Swarm of the Arena Football League (2002-03) in various positions including media relations, game operations, and ticket sales. Bausano also has Miami ties as he worked as group ticket sales coordinator and color commentator for men's and women's basketball in 1998-99. He graduated from DePauw University with a bachelor's degree in Communications.
David Kiefer moves into the position of media relations intern. He interned with the media relations department while attending school at Centenary College of Louisiana, and he recently graduated with a degree in Communications. Kiefer played baseball for the Gents in the Mid-Continent Conference and was a Second-Team All-Mid-Con and Academic All-Mid-Con selection.
