NCAA Baseball Tourney Selection Show Watch Party At Brick Street

OXFORD, Ohio -- After winning the 2005 Mid-American Conference Baseball Tournament in dramatic fashion on Saturday and clinching the school's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2000, the Miami University baseball team will gather at Brick Street Restaurant at 36 E. High Street in Oxford, Ohio, for a Selection Show Party where the RedHawks will learn their tournament destination.
The gathering is open to the public and begins at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 30.
Sites for the 64-team field were announced Sunday. The 16 regional-site host institutions are: Arizona State (Tempe, Ariz.), Baylor (Waco, Texas), Cal State Fullerton (Fullerton, Calif.), Clemson (Clemson, S.C.), Florida (Gainesville, Fla.), Florida State (Tallahassee, Fla.), Georgia Tech (Atlanta, Ga.), Louisiana State (Baton Rouge, La.), Long Beach State (Long Beach, Calif.), Miami (Fla.) (Coral Gables, Fla.), Mississippi (Oxford, Miss.), Nebraska (Lincoln, Neb.), Oregon State (Corvallis, Ore.), Tennessee (Knoxville, Tenn.), Texas (Austin, Texas), Tulane (New Orleans, La.).
Miami owns a 44-16 record and is one win away from tying the school record for victories in a season, which was set by the 1977 team at 45-15. The RedHawks also won the MAC regular-season title with a 17-4 record. Head coach Tracy Smith was tabbed the conference's coach of the year, while sophomore Keith Weiser (Hamilton, Ohio/Talawanda) and senior Brian Canada (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) were first-team all-MAC selections. Senior Paul Frietch (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) was named the tournament MVP, batting .409 with three home runs, seven RBI and a slugging percentage of .864.
