Miami Senior Synchronized Skaters Finish Third at Spring Cup

MILAN, Italy - After finishing second in the short program, Miami's senior synchronized skating team took third in the free-skate/long program on Sunday in Milan, Italy, at the Spring Cup to finish in third place overall.
Miami took six of the seven second-place ordinals on Saturday in the short program, but Team Berlin 1, the team that got the other second-place vote, finish second in the long program and jumped ahead of Miami overall. Team Surprise from Sweden won the long program and finished as the overall winner after taking the short program Saturday.
On Sunday, Miami took six of seven third-place votes, earning one second from a judge whose third-place vote went to Team Berlin 1. Team Surprise again swept the first-place ordinals on its way to a win. Hot Shivers (Italy), Cool Dreams (Switzerland) and Team Storm (Great Britain) remained in fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively, earning unanimous ordinals for those positions in the free skate.
Both the senior and collegiate squads have the coming weekend off from competition before heading to the U.S. National Championships Feb. 24-26 in Lowell, Mass.
