RedHawks Dominate Ohio, 40-20

OXFORD, Ohio (AP) - Mike Smith scored two touchdowns, Josh Betts threw two scoring passes and Ryne Robinson had a 74-yard punt return for a touchdown to lead Miami University to a 40-20 victory over Ohio on Saturday in th 81st meeting between the rivals.

Smith, who had 41 yards rushing on 10 carries, scored on a 20-yard run and also caught a 38-yard TD pass from Betts. Betts, 21 of 32 passes for 268 yards with one interception, also threw a 23-yard scoring pass to Martin Nance for the RedHawks (2-2, 1-0 Mid-American Conference).

Robinson's punt return for a touchdown was his second of the year and fifth of his career. He has had two others called back by penalties.

Ryan Hawk, who completed 23 of 39 passes for 253 yards, hit Kalvin McRae on a 39-yard scoring play and Scott Mayle for a 24-yard touchdown. Hawk also ran for a 1-yard TD for the Bobcats (1-2, 0-1).

Ohio was limited to 9 net yards rushing on 34 carries. Miami had six sacks for 53 yards in losses, equaling its sack total in its first three games.

Chris Jackson tied Ohio's single-game record for receptions with 12, for 86 yards.

The RedHawks now hold a 50-29-2 record in the series, with wins in the last five meetings and 10 of the last 11.
