COLUMBUS-Miami University's men's golf team finished its stint at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate hosted by Ohio State placing 15th among the 18-team field.
Senior Mark Weghorst (Carmel, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit) led the team, tying for 37th place shooting 229 over three rounds on the Par 72 course. Sophomore Mike Calkin (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) finished one stroke behind Weghorst in a tie for 46th place, while sophomore Matt Thomas (Blasdell, N.Y./Orchard Park) shot 231 on the weekend to finish in a tie for 53rd place. Sophomore Ryan Swelin (Sundre, Alberta/Sundre) posted a 234 for the tournament to finish in a tie for 67th place, and junior Brent Kriegshauser (Leawood, Kan./Rockhurst) shot 239 for the tournament to finish in 86th place.
Xavier captured the team title, edging Kent State by three strokes with an 886. Kent State's Ryan Yip won a playoff against Toledo's Brad Heaven to claim medalist honors.
The RedHawks head to the FirstEnergy Intercollegiate in Akron, Ohio, April 24-25 in their final tournament before the MAC Championships May 6-8.
