WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.-Miami University's golf team ended its stint at the Boilermaker Invitational finishing 13th among the 18-team field. The RedHawks shot 297-299-300=896. Purdue won the event, shooting 285-277-293=855, edging Colorado by two strokes.
Sophomore Mike Calkin (St. Charles, Ill./St Charles East) tied for 18th place, finishing at two-over par 218, to pace the RedHawks. Senior Mark Weghorst (Carmel, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit) tied for 42nd place at nine-over par 225, while sophomore Ryan Swelin (Sundre, Alberta/Sundre) tied for 60th place at 13-over par 229. Junior Brent Kriegshauser (Leawood, Kan./Rockhurst) tied for 66th place, just one stroke behind Swelin, and sophomore Matt Thomas (Blasdell, N.Y./Orchard Park) tied for 74th place.
Colorado's Kane Webber claimed individual medalist honors, shooting a 66 in the final round to finish at 10-under par 206.
Miami returns to action next weekend (April 17-18) at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate in Columbus, Ohio.
