Miami Athletics Announces National Letter of Intent Signings

MEN'S BASKETBALL
In what he is calling the best recruiting class of his 14-year collegiate head coaching stint, Miami University men's basketball coach Charlie Coles announced the signing of 6-foot-5 guard/forward Mike Bramos (Harper Woods, MI/Grosse Point North), 6-foot-8 forward Tyler Dierkers (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) and 6-foot-9 forward/center Adam Fletcher (St. Albans, W. Va./St. Albans). "Each of these three guys were our top choices---the guys we wanted from day one---and we are excited about them joining our program," says Coles. "We feel good about our future roster, because there's a lot of potential there," continues Coles. "These three guys are highly regarded and we are very excited about bring them to Miami." WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Capping what head coach Maria Fantanarosa calls "a great recruiting year for the program," Miami University's women's basketball inked six standouts to National Letters of Intent Wednesday. A balanced class that represents five different states, the RedHawks signed 5-foot-10 guard Dominique Booker (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian), 6-foot-2 center Kris Coner (Trafalgar, Ind./Indian Creek), 6-foot-3 center Stephanie Ford (Indianapolis, Ind./Franklin Central), 5-foot-9 guard Ashley Hawkins (Henderson, Ky./Henderson County), 6-foot forward Eve Pyle (Murrysville, Pa./Oakland Catholic) and 5-foot-7 guard Jenna Schone (Pickerington, Ohio/North). The defending Mid-American Conference Champions, Miami presently has 10 scholarship players on its roster and will graduate three at the conclusion of the 2004-05 season. According to Fantanarosa, the signing of the impressive class brings the Miami women's basketball program a step closer to national respect. MEN'S GOLF
Two golfers have signed national letters of intent with the Miami University golf program, head coach John Wiler announced Wednesday. Ben Bastel (Upper Sandusky, Ohio/Upper Sandusky) and Aaron Crist (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown) will join the RedHawk golf team in the fall of 2005. Bastel won the 2004 Sectional High School Tournament and the 2003 District High School Tournament. Crist was the 2003 Greater Miami Conference champion and player of the year and was tabbed the Cincinnati Enquirer Player of the Year. VOLLEYBALL
Miami University's volleyball program received a national letter-of-intent from 5-foot-11 middle hitter/outside hitter Emily Schroeder (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard). A three-year letterwinner for Bishop Chatard, Schroeder garnered all-state honors three straight years, earning first-team distinction in 2003 and 2004 and second-team recognition in 2002. This season, she led Bishop Chatard to 36-4 mark en route to the Indiana State 3A crown. Schroeder is a three-time all-city selection, boasting first-team honors as a junior and senior, and also was a member of the Indiana South All-Star Team in 2003. Statistically, Schroeder averaged 1.2 blocks per game, 2.8 kills per game, 1.7 digs per game and posted 46 service aces and a .369 hitting percentage, while notching a 94.0-percent serve/receive percentage this season. WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD
Miami head women's track and field coach Rich Ceronie has announced that the program has signed Betsy Allen (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) to a National Letter of Intent. Allen is a senior at Wooster and finished third in the 400 meters in Ohio's Division I Championship in each of the past two seasons with a top time of 56.10 seconds.
