Miami Alumna Carla DeGirolamo Joins Synchronized Skating Staff

OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University alumna and former synchronized skater Carla DeGirolamo has been named assistant senior synchronized skating coach/head collegiate synchronized skating coach, head coach Vicki Korn announced.
DeGirolamo brings 18 years of figure skating experience and 12 years of synchronized skating experience to her position. Last season, she was a volunteer assistant with Miami's collegiate synchronized skating team and has served as an assistant Ice Skating Coordinator at Miami's Goggin Ice Arena since July 2002. She also was an assistant coach for the Oxford Skating Club synchronized skating teams last year. For the past three summers, DeGirolamo has been a head instructor at Miami's summer synchronized skating camp and was an instructor at Miami's summer figure skating school in 2002. DeGirolamo is a United States Figure Skating Association gold medalist in dance & moves in the field and is PSA registered rated in dance.
During her four-year stint on Miami's senior synchronized skating team, DeGirolamo earned several prestigious awards. A two-year captain, DeGirolamo garnered the team's Senior of the Year and Outstanding Skater awards during her senior campaign and also was decorated with Miami Athletics' most prestigious award-The LeeAnn Grimes Davidge Award-which recognizes a senior female athlete who best personifies the outstanding qualities of LeeAnn Grimes Davidge by excelling in the areas of athletics, leadership and scholarship. DeGirolamo was tabbed the team's Rookie of the Year as a freshman and served as the Miami Ice Skating Club's Vice President (2001) and President (2002).
DeGirolamo, who earned her bachelor's degree with a double major in accountancy and marketing this past May, replaces four-year synchronized skating coach Alyssa Lewis. She will start on August 15, 2003.
