OXFORD, Ohio (AP) - Ryan Schneider threw for 374 yards and three touchdowns and Alex Haynes ran for 156 yards and two scores as UCF beat Miami 48-31 Saturday.
Jimmy Fryzel caught six passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns for the Golden Knights (6-5, 5-2 Mid-American Conference).
Ben Roethlisberger completed 23 of 41 passes for 271 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions for the RedHawks (7-5, 5-3). Miami was eliminated from contention in the MAC East Division.
Miami started quickly, taking a 10-0 lead on Mike Smith's 9-yard touchdown run and Jared Parseghian's 27-yard field goal with 3:27 left in the first quarter.
Schneider threw a 76-yard TD pass to Fryzel 22 seconds later to make it 10-7. UCF took a 14-10 lead when Al Hopkins took a blocked punt 2 yards for a score with 43 seconds left in the first quarter.
Schneider's 20-yard TD pass to Fryzel and Andreal Curry's 1-yard TD run made it 28-10 at the half. Schneider added a 22-yard TD pass to Doug Gabriel in the fourth quarter, and Haynes scored on a late 3-yard run.
Miami backup quarterback Josh Betts threw two touchdown passes in the fourth. Eddie Tillitz caught six passes for 77 yards and two TDs for the RedHawks.
