Miami Volleyball Falls To South Carolina In Three

COLUMBIA, S.C. (Sept. 15) -- A quick start for the Miami volleyball team was halted by a persistent South Carolina team. The RedHawks fell in three games to the Gamecocks Friday evening at the South Carolina Invitational.
After opening up a 10-1 lead in the first game, sparked by three Kelly McCullough service aces, Miami allowed the Gamecocks to battle back to tie the game, 12-12. The two teams traded eight serves until USC took its first lead of the game, 13-12. South Carolina scored the next two points to take the first game, 15-12.
The Gamecocks dominated the next two games-15-4,15-1-to win the match.
McCullough led the RedHawks with seven kills, six digs and three service aces.
Miami falls to 3-5 on the season and USC improves to 6-3. The Red and White face Rutgers at 10 a.m. Saturday and ends its stint at the South Carolina Invitational against Sam Houston State at 6 p.m.
