Ryan Colegate

Ryan Colegate begins his second season with Miami after joining Brian Smiley's staff as the director of player development in the summer of 2024.

In his first season with the Red and White, the RedHawks won a regular-season and MAC Tournament Championship. Carson Byers and Cooper Katskee were each recognized as an All-MAC and All-Region pitcher. Katskee was also selected as the MAC Pitcher of the Year and was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-America Third Team. Miami pitcher Hayden Cuthbertson was selected in the 18th round of the 2025 MLB Draft today by the Miami Marlins.

Colegate previously acted as the director of special projects for the University of Iowa baseball team, where he assisted with the pitching staff's development, alumni relations, daily operations, scouting and several other duties. He began his stint with the Hawkeyes in 2022 as the director of player development. 

Colegate spent time as the pitching coach for the San Diego Christian College Hawks (2021-22), Phoenix College Bears (2020-21) and Ottawa University Spirit developmental team (2019-20). From 2020 to 2022, he also served as an assistant/pitching coach for the Lakeshore Chinooks of the Northwoods League.

The native of Dayton, Ohio played collegiately at Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, Ohio.

The Cleveland Guardians drafted Colegate in the 36th round of the 2015 MLB draft. He spent four years playing professionally within the Indians and Padres organizations.
