Reed Robelot is in his third season as associate head swimming and diving coach for the Miami RedHawks. Robelot joined the RedHawks coaching staff in August 2021. During his time in Oxford, the Miami men have captured consecutive MAC titles while the women’s team has finished in the top three for back-to-back years.
During the 2022-23 campaign, 16 Miami athletes earned All-MAC recognition, with Nicole Maier winning Co-Swimmer of the Year and Sydney Rice claiming Freshman Diver of the Year. Maier went on to become an All-American, winning the 400 IM consolation final and setting a school record in the process.
11 Miami men qualified for All-MAC honors in 2022, while three RedHawk women were named All-MAC (including Maier, who qualified for the 2022 NCAA Championships in three different events). Additionally, Miami’s Jackson Miller was named both MAC Diver of the Year and MAC Freshman Diver of the Year in 2022.
The RedHawks have continued to excel in the classroom, consistently producing Academic All-MAC and College Swimming & Diving Scholar All-America honorees during Robelot’s time in Oxford. Most recently, Nicole Maier (2022 first team) and Madeline Padavic (2022 second team) became the latest RedHawks to be recognized by the CSCAA. In 2022-23, eight Miami swimmers were named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA).
Prior to Miami, Robelot coached at various clubs and universities. While at UW-Green Bay, he coached the first-ever Phoenix swimmer to qualify for the Olympic Trials, as well as elevated the men's swimming and diving team from sixth to third place team finishes in the Horizon League.
From 2011-2015, Robelot assisted Virginia Tech Swimming and Diving to national level status. He helped the Hokies to three-consecutive top-25 finishes for both the men's and the women's teams, 17 individual All-American performances, five All-American relay performances, eight individual ACC Champions, and three ACC Championship relay titles. Additionally, Robelot contributed to signing six top-20 recruiting classes and coaching five ACC record-setting performances.
The Baton Rouge, La. native also helped the Hokies to 18th-place finishes for both the men's and women's squads at the 2012 NCAA Championship. In 2013, the men's and women's teams both finished in second-place at the ACC Championships. In 2014, the Hokie's men's squad won the ACC Championship for the first time in program history and finished in the top 20 at NCAAs for the third-consecutive year. In 2015, Virginia Tech was the only school to place both the men's and women's teams in the top three at the ACC Championships and brought its largest squads in school history to the NCAA Championships.
Prior to arriving in Blacksburg, Robelot spent the 2007-2010 seasons as head assistant coach of the Western Kentucky University Hilltoppers. There, he helped coach the WKU women's team to three-consecutive Sun Belt Conference Championships. He also coached the men's team to a Sun Belt title in the 2009-2010 season. During Robelot's tenure at WKU, he coached numerous Sun Belt Conference champions, record holders, NCAA qualifiers and an NCAA finalist.
A three-year letter winner at Louisiana State University, Robelot was named to the Southeastern Conference Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in 1998-2002. He served as a volunteer assistant coach for the University of Houston's women's swimming and diving team and as the head coach for the Houston Cougar Aquatic Sports in 2006. Robelot also coached Tiger Aquatics for two years, following his time at UW-Green Bay. As a head club coach, Robelot trained a number of Junior National qualifiers, Louisiana State Champions, TAGS finalists, a Louisiana Swimmer-of-the-Year, and multiple of swimmers that went on to swim at Power Five schools at the Division I level in the NCAA.
Prior to his time in Houston, Robelot spent four years as the senior assistant coach for the Crawfish Aquatics, a Senior Medal Level Club, while completing his master's degree in Sport Pedagogy at LSU. During his stint with the Crawfish Aquatics, Robelot helped the team win three LSC Championships and coached several Senior National, Junior National and Top 16 qualifiers.
