During his first year in Oxford, the Miami men captured their third consecutive MAC title, while the women earned a top-three finish for the third year in a row. 16 Miami athletes earned All-MAC recognition in 2023, with Nicole Maier winning Co-Swimmer of the Year and Sydney Rice claiming Freshman Diver of the Year. Maier went on to become an All-American, winning the 400 IM consolation final and setting a school record in the process. Miami produced a total of 37 Academic All-MAC selections and eight CSC Academic All-District honorees, with both the men's and women's squads recognized as CSCAA Scholar All-America teams.

Hensley was an NCAA All-American in the 100 butterfly in both 2019 and 2020 at North Carolina State, and also earned All-American honors as part of NCSU's 400 freestyle relay and 800 freestyle relay teams. He won an ACC title with the 400 freestyle relay in 2020, and ranks among the top all-time Wolfpack swimmers in a variety of events (5th in 100 butterfly, 5th in 100 backstroke, 7th in 200 backstroke).

Hensley served as a volunteer assistant coach with North Carolina State during the 2020-21 season, working with five NCAA champions, 13 All-Americans, and one NCAA/US Open record-holding relay. He spent the 2021-22 season on staff with IUPUI as an assistant coach. During his time with the Jaguars, IUPUI's swimmers produced 11 school records, six gold medals, and 22 podium finishes. The men's and women's teams both posted top-three finishes at the 2022 Horizon League Championship, with Logan Kelly ranking as the 11th-fastest freshman in the country and Emmaleigh Zietlow earning conference Freshman of the Year honors.

Hensley earned a Bachelor's of Science in Sport Management from North Carolina State in 2020.
