SCOUTING REPORT: Enters fall drills as the No. 2 man behind Austin Brown at defensive tackle ... from an athletic standpoint, Shoe[apos]s got it, but he needed to display more focus and consistency in his play ... when he plays at top speed, he[apos]s difficult for offensive linemen to block ... has the ability to become a very disruptive player.

2010: Played in the season opener at Florida, recording a tackle for loss, but he sat out the remainder of the year with an injury.

2009: Appeared in nine games, collecting four tackles 0.5 tackles for loss and one quarterback hurry ... two of his four defensive stops came at Western Michigan.

HIGH SCHOOL: As a senior at Princeton High School, he led his league in quarterback sacks and was second in fumble recoveries ... in addition to lettering twice in football as a defensive end, he also was a two-time captain for his prep basketball squad ... served as a mentor for elementary kids ... an Honor Roll student, he won awards for merit and leadership ...... prep football coach was Bill Leach.

PERSONAL: Born September 6, 1990 ... son of Leslie Goldsmith ... he majors in sport studies at Miami.
